Our iGEM Adventure: An Amazing Journey as Team Toulouse
After 11 months of intense work, challenges overcome, and shared moments, we are proud to finally conclude this exceptional journey. This project, which has engaged our energy, creativity, and passion, has allowed us to explore fascinating fields such as synthetic biology, bacterial culture, plant physiology, and even space-related issues — with a particular focus on the challenges of a permanent settlement on the Moon. Beyond science, this competition has helped us develop new skills in communication, project management, leadership, and entrepreneurship—skills that embody iGEM's focus on innovation and collaboration.
These past months have been much more than just a scientific experience. They have been a true human journey, filled with moments of doubt, but also with unwavering solidarity among us. We have learned to support one another, to find creative solutions to challenges, and to move forward together, always stronger. Every team member has contributed in their own way to this project, and this wealth of talents and ideas has been a true strength.
This project would not have been possible without the invaluable help of our mentors, who have guided us with patience and expertise, nor without the steadfast support of our sponsors. Their trust and resources have been essential to the realization of our ambition. We also want to warmly thank everyone who believed in us, supported the development of the BioMoon project, and made this adventure possible. Their contribution, whether material, moral, or technical, has been crucial.
Looking back at everything we have achieved, we can only be proud of the results we obtained during the competition. We faced many challenges, but thanks to our collective effort and determination, we achieved exceptional results that go beyond iGEM prizes. These results are not only a reward for the project itself, but also a reflection of the team spirit and commitment of each individual.
We are honored to present to you the fruits of these months of hard work and learning. Thank you to everyone who has been by our side, and to all those who have made it possible for us to carry out this extraordinary project.
Prizes
Best space project
We are incredibly proud to have won the Space Village Award at the iGEM competition. This award recognizes our project, BioMoon, a lunar biostimulant we developed with the aim of contributing to sustainable human settlement on the Moon. This project is the result of several months of intense work, creativity, and collaboration, and seeing our efforts recognized in this way is an immense pride.
We are honored that our project was highlighted by iGEM, which has emphasized the growing importance of synthetic biology in such an unexpected field as space exploration. This award strengthens our belief that biotechnology has a crucial role to play in the future of humanity, even beyond our planet.
We hope that this award will help attract even more teams and innovative projects to the Space Village in future editions, and that new projects combining science and space exploration will emerge to push the boundaries of biology and innovation even further.
Best composite part
We are proud to have won the Best Composite Part award in the Overgrad category, recognizing the importance of our work metabolism pathway in Pseudomonas fluorescens. This achievement is a testament to the dedication and innovation of our team in the field of synthetic biology.
What makes this award even more meaningful is that our part will be available for future iGEM teams to use and build upon, embodying the collaborative spirit at the heart of iGEM. We are excited that our contribution will support the ongoing growth of synthetic biology and inspire future projects. To learn more about our work, please visit the Part page here.
Top 10 overgrad
It is with great joy and pride that we announce our project is among the Top 10 projects in the Overgrad category of the iGEM competition. This recognition rewards the hard work, creativity, and determination we put into every step of our project. We are thrilled that our dedication has been acknowledged in this way, and we are honored to see our work recognized among the best.
Gold Medal
We are proud to have won the Gold Medal at this year’s iGEM competition. With 11 participations, the iGEM Toulouse team has earned 11 Gold Medals, a remarkable achievement that reflects the consistency and excellence of our work over the years.
This recognition highlights the scientific rigor and commitment of our team, but it would not have been possible without the ongoing support of our academic institutions and the valuable guidance of our mentors. Their expertise and support have been crucial in successfully executing our projects and maintaining a high standard of excellence throughout.
