Team Introduction

A 3-member team adventure

Hi I’m Cindy, a student with great passion for biology. In 2023, I came to the laboratory of FMI Tech, introduced the significance of iGEM and expressed my expectation of participating in the competition. From then on, Fanglin Luo, one of the laboratory leaders, and I worked together as a team for iGEM. As time went on, Sam and Miumiu joined us. We officially became a small team of four. At the same time, Skyler, a former intern of the laboratory who is now studying biology at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, joined us as an excellent advisor.

However, due to our deficiencies in propaganda, we couldn't enroll more teammates to deal with various challenges of iGEM. We had to pluck up our courage to complete this difficult adventure with four members. No longer divide u into the dry team and the wet team, everyone did their best to cooperate and complete all the necessary tasks. Since our members are international high school students and are facing the pressure of college applications this year, which has led to the need for assistance of external resources for many tasks. We decided that the sections, related to creativity, ideas, activity arrangements and engineering designs would be completed by our members, and for the rest of tasks, we found many external resources that provided us with help through the assistance of the FMITech laboratory. For example, Yunzhou Biotechnology Co,Ltd gave us very good suggestions for plasmid construction and helped us construct the plasmids. Seniors who have participated in iGEM in the past years gave us a lot of practical suggestions. We are also very grateful that the laboratory was willing to arrange their experimenters to cooperate with our experiments, and our PI, Fanglin Luo, one of the owner of the lab, contributed to acquire a lot of external resources and assist us in completing the human practice activities.

Our 3-member team with the FMItech laboratory, which participated in the iGEM activity for the first time, will definitely have many deficiencies and flaws in this iGEM process, but we are very satisfied with this process. We have done our best to achieve this so far. We hope our work can provide some interesting inspirations for future iGEMers or researchers!
