Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) is a rare, sometimes fatal implication of certain types of bacterial infections. The use of tampons and other devices such as menstruation cups is one of the identified risk factors of TSS.
"Menstruation and tampon use are among the major risk factors for Toxic Shock Syndrome, potentially increasing the risk tenfold." Our Goal is to focus on making tampon use safer to reduce TSS risks for women in everyday life.
We aim to design a tampon product that prevents menstruation related TSS by introducing TSS-suppressing probiotics to help maintain and improve the health of vaginal microbiome.
