Overview
To ensure the scientificity, feasibility, and practicality of the project. We have gained an understanding of the key issues of social concern and communicated with mentors, businesses, professionals, and non professionals when selecting topics. At the same time, diversified human-practice (HP) activities were also carried out. We conduct HP through various methods. For example, we collect opinions through online surveys, telephone surveys, and online meetings. To evaluate the feasibility of our project through field research, experimental testing, and offline inspections. We also invite other companies to test our components, such as DELAND WATER TECHNOLOGY CO. At the same time, in order to let the public understand synthetic biology, we have applied for a WeChat public number to popularise science by sending literature guides.

Our initial inspirations
As the degree of global plastic pollution continues to escalate, coupled with improper handling of plastic waste, which further exacerbates the problem. Of the many challenges in dealing with plastic, the most difficult aspect is the degradation of polyethylene. Therefore, there is an urgent need for a sustainable and high-performance method of polyethylene degradation.
We researched and conducted surveys, and after consulting with our teachers, we decided to adopt a biodegradable approach.

We connect DELAND WATER TECHNOLOGY CO.During the conversation, we learned about the specific process of A2O process in sewage treatment plant, communicated with them about data-driven mining of polyethylene degrading enzyme coding sequence, and visited their laboratory, which further confirmed the feasibility of our project.

Primary School Teaching
In September 2024, we will enter primary schools to popularize relevant knowledge for primary school students. At the same time, we held a public interest lecture and invited students from Urumqi No. 76 Primary School to visit our laboratory. At the same time, we conducted a special microorganism science popularization activity, led primary school students to have a first experience of biological experiments, and conducted a question-answering activity. This greatly stimulated their interest in microbiology, and the students were actively involved in the interactive and experimental sessions in the classroom.
High School Teaching
XJU_CHINA used the summer to walk into the middle and high schools, and brought vivid and interesting projects for students to explain, so that students understand the importance of biodegradable polyethylene.
