Nicole Chen
Hi, I'm Nicole Chen, a rising junior at SHSID. I've been interested in biology since middle school, and am excited to meet like-minded people and work in a common project about synthetic biology. I have a wide assortment of skills from lab experience to promo work to randomly parodying songs in explaining STEM concepts, and am honored to be part of this project. Through attending this year’s iGEM competition, I hope to learn through doing and further strengthen my interest in biology, all the while contributing to something meaningful in the process.
Hayashi Rika
Hello, I'm Rika Hayashi, a rising junior at SHSID. As a biology student, I have delve in to multiple researches in areas on molecular biology and health since middle school. And being able to participate in IGEM again this year as the Dry Lab leader, I am hoping to enhance my original understanding and gain knowlege on how to lead and be a better team player.
D'Agata Cristina
Hello, I’m Cristina D’Agata, a junior at Shanghai High School International Division. With a deep passion for learning and community service, I aspire to join the biological sciences in my future studies. My journey in biology includes competing in prestigious competitions like USABO and BBO, as well as gaining hands-on experience through an internship at a bio-medicine company. I joined iGEM this year to immerse myself in the full process of developing and refining medical solutions while collaborating closely with peers. I’m eager to engage in cutting-edge synthetic biology research, where I can explore innovative ideas and apply my knowledge to real-world challenges.
Gloria Wang
Hi, my name is Gloria Wang. I'm a rising junior from Shanghai High School International Division. With a deep-rooted passion for biology cultivated over ten years of dedicated study, I am fervently devoted to unraveling the mysteries of life and exploring the boundless realms of science. Specifically in animals, plants, and microorganisms. Eager to further enrich my knowledge and skills in biology, I am highly enthusiastic about the opportunity to partake in iGEM. I hope this journey will resonate my thirst in further discovery upon biology.
Annie Chao-Yi Wang
Hello, my name is Annie Wang. I am a rising junior from Shanghai High School International Division. I am inspired by my interest and passion towards the field of biology. From a young age, the diversity of organisms and complexity of life processes fascinates me. Driven by curiosity, I attended HOSA-Future Health Professionals competition. Preparing for the biology component, I delved into cellular life, human body structures and their functions, and genetics. Additionally, the nutrition portion of the textbook expanded my comprehension of essential elements for human development, including carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, water, minerals, and vitamins. I also learned about medical nutrition therapy. Beyond academics, I created a school club that focuses on women’s health to further deepen my knowledge.
Victoria Li
I'm Victoria, currently I am a ninth grader, but soon I will be moving into tenth grade after summer break. As a ninth-grade student, i play flute in my spare time, which I have been learning for 4 years. In addition, I am interested in cellular biology, as I joined several bio related competitions. my motivation to join IGEM is to challenge myself, expand my knowledge, and engage with like-minded peers who share my enthusiasm for biology.
Alvin Li
My name is Alvin Li, a male high school freshman becoming a sophomore in the following school year at Shanghai High School International Division. When my teacher told me about the competition iGEM, I knew it will be the perfect competition for me. That’s because as a STEM kid focusing on biology, performing experiments in a laboratory will be a very important chance to study which will help me gain experience in my future life and career. Education, business planning, synthetic biology, and laboratory science are all topics that I’m interested in. That’s why I decided to join my wonderful team and compete in iGEM!
YANMING ZHOU
My name is Yanming Zhou, a rising junior student that is currently studying at Shanghai High School Intl, Division. I have been participating in scientific research and competitions since 7th grade, mainly studying leukemia and chronic diseases. Since I have little experience in researching in a big team, iGem provided me a precious opportunity in both showing my talents and improving my teamwork skills.
JASMINE CAO
Hi! My name is Jasmine Cao, and I'm a rising sophomore in Shanghai High School International Division, and while I might seem quiet at first, I am actually really passionate about participating in this year’s iGEM activity and experiments with IBD and its potential treatments! My curiosity extends beyond classrooms and school courses, and I am always interested in biology or medicine-related fields, so I am always willing to explore extracurricular knowledge through documentaries and books in spare time, investigate in new sub-fields of biology, and try to engage in different projects that allow me to gain further insights into this subject. I am looking forward to the new journey ahead of me!
Samantha Li
