OVERVIEW
In order to ensure there was a demand for the research done by us we conducted a survey with 50+ responses giving us further insight into the effects acne has on individuals. Our project is meant to help those with acne have more efficacy when treating it with antibiotics or topical creams by degrading the biofilm on top of it. In our survey we asked people if acne has ever affected them, and if so to what extent? Over 60% noted that acne affects their daily life and 75% of the people who answered that they get acne said it affects their mental health as well 50% saying it is physically painful (58% of overall and 30% of overall respectively). We also discussed with professors at UCSD about our project, trying to find out the best way to implement it. They helped guide us in the right direction.

To advertise our classes we used several tactics:
- In-Library Promotions
- Posters and Flyers: Place bright, colorful posters in high-traffic areas of the library, such as the entrance, children's section, and community bulletin board. Include eye-catching visuals of kids engaging in STEM activities and emphasize fun, hands-on learning.
- Bookmarks: Create bookmarks with information about the class and distribute them with book checkouts. These small, tangible reminders can reach families who may not see larger displays.
- Interactive Displays: Set up a small interactive display near the children’s section showcasing some of the projects or topics the class will cover, such as robotics kits or a 3D printing demo. This gives parents and kids a sneak peek into the experience.
- Social Media Advertising, Including Instagram
Instagram Posts: Instagram is perfect for showcasing the excitement of a children’s STEM class. Post engaging content
- Photos and Videos: Share visuals of past STEM classes, if available, or stock images of kids doing fun STEM activities. Use playful captions like, "Ready for some hands-on fun? Join us at the library for our upcoming STEM class!"
Behind-the-scenes: Share behind-the-scenes footage of setting up for the class. For example, post short videos of prepping materials, and assembling objects for the kids to explore.
- Instagram Stories: Use Instagram Stories to give quick, interactive updates leading up to the event, including countdown stickers, polls (like “Who’s excited to build robots?”), and quick Q&A sessions about what the class will involve.
- Event Promotion: Create an Instagram Event Reminder that followers can add to their calendar, or share the link to a sign-up form in your bio.
