Primary PI
Xin Hu
I am a professor at China-Japan Union Hospital of Jilin University
and serve as the First PI of the team. My research direction is
reverse cardio-oncology and epigenetics. I enjoy seeing more
potentialities within students, and their passion and love for
iGEM have deeply influenced me. During this journey of synthetic
biology, they are as vigorous as the sunshine, giving me warmth
and strength. We will join hands to fulfill our project and
contribute to the development of synthetic biology.

Youzhong Wan
As the Second PI of the team, I have a profound interest in cancer
biology, especially the regulation of cancer-related pathways by
mutations in RNA splicing factors. I hope to do my best to provide
academic guidance and assistance to students. Some students may be
in lower grades and just started to engage in scientific research.
I will help them cultivate good experimental habits to give them a
good start in research. For students interested in scientific
research, we often discuss issues together to feel the collision
and resonance of thinking. I hope we can all go further and
further on the road of synthetic biology!

I am the director of the Cardiovascular Medicine Department at
China-Japan Union Hospital of Jilin University, specializing in
interventional therapy for cardiovascular diseases like coronary
heart disease, and offering robust clinical support to the team.
The iGEM competition has opened up a new path for my thinking of
medical services, and the innovative ideas of the participating
students are constantly inspiring me. I believe we can complete
such a meaningful project which will bear fruit in the clinical
settings.

My name is Yutong Yao, and I am a doctoral candidate at the
China-Japan Union Hospital of Jilin University. With a deep
affection for cats, I aspire to embrace a life imbued with their
serenity and contentment. My academic focus is on molecular
biology. During this synthetic biology journey, I have encountered
many fresh perspectives and emerging talents. I am dedicated to
leveraging my knowledge and skills to propel the field of
synthetic biology forward, striving to achieve significant
advancements and contribute to its dynamic evolution.

Living in various parts of India, I have interacted with people
from various backgrounds and life stories. Human emotions ,
thought processes and interactions have always fascinated me, how
the complex systems we have created and live in are a product of
various minds communicating together. This has always made
me,advocate for connecting various groups via the foray of
Scientific knowledge. In this regard, with my B.Tech. Biotech
background, I am currently pursuing a masters in Life Sciences
aiming to specialise in Neuroscience, and have signed as a mentor
for iGEM 2024 to chaperon more scientific innovation and
possibilities!

student. As an avid traveller, I usually go on at least one big
trip every year. The culltural shocks that I encountered during
travelling always stimulate me to think more creatively and
innovatively. When I am studying, I can deeply immerse myself in
the sea of knowledge and forget every thing else around me. My

iGEM, but it is my first as the leader of the Wet Lab team. My

Hello everyone, I'm Huixin Liang, a clinical medicine major. "Per
aspera ad astra" is my motto as I constantly pursue my dream in
the field of medicine. I'm fearless and determined,and I believe
that experiment and exploration are the true test of one's
perseverance in seeking knowledge. So let's move on without fear.
There's nothing to be afraid of. The journey for a medical student
is about lifelong learning. In the way of searching for the
mechanism of disease, I have always been tirelessly forward.

Chinese,the “yu” means the universe,and the “xiao” means free and

I am doing.
