We are the team Tsinghua-M, participating in the iGEM competition for the first time representing Tanwei College, Tsinghua University. Our team members mainly come from from Tanwei College and Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University. Everyone has different interests and professional skills, but we are all committed to doing a good job on the RNAssay project, hoping to have a wonderful iGEM journey.

Hello, everyone! I’m Sylvia(Ya Wen), a senior at Tsinghua University, majoring in Chemical Biology and Chemical Engineering. My primary research interests are in Synthetic Biology and Metabolic Engineering. In this competition, I was responsible for designing, managing, and conducting the wet lab pre-experiments, as well as performing the computational analysis of splice isoforms in the dry lab. In my spare time, I enjoy photography and traveling. I look forward to connecting with like-minded individuals and sharing experiences!

I come from Shaanxi Xian, a beautiful city with many places of interest, such as the Terra-Cotta Warriors. In addition to my studies, I am also passionate about Chinese dance and believe that it not only exercises the body but also cultivates artistic sentiment. Within our Tsinghua-M team, I have mainly participated in wet lab and worked with my team members to optimize the ADAR system, significantly improving its editing activity. In this project, I am mainly responsible for team management and Wiki coding. I've learned a lot about web developing during this year. Lin Guangyuan, Ph.D. Candidate in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Tsinghua University. My expertise lies in Chemical Engineering and Technology. As the advisor for Team Tsinghua-M, I provide strategic guidance in conceptualization, experimental design, and data analysis. My research passion is centered on developing digital cell systems to facilitate the design of yeast cell factories, with a particular focus on addressing unbalanced flux and bottlenecks in metabolic networks. Additionally, I am deeply involved in enzyme engineering and the development of fundamental tools for microbial cell factories. It is my privilege to lead our team in creating innovative RNA-related toolkit solutions, and I am hopeful that our work will contribute to the advancement of the synthetic biology community.

Chun Li, distinguished Professor at Department of Chemical Engineering, Tsinghua University, and the esteemed supervisor of Tsinghua-M. He has been focusing his research on biotransformation and synthesis of plant (licorice) natural products in microbial cell factories, engineering application and reprogramming industrial microorganisms with multiple-stress resistance via constructing Multilevel Defense System (MDS), and microbial control and plant health since 2000. Professor Chun Li is passionately committed to mentoring the next generation of scientists, actively encouraging young students to participate in synthetic biology through the iGEM competition. Under his guidance, the teams he has led have achieved a remarkable streak of Gold Prizes at the International Genetically Engineered Machine Competition (iGEM) from 2012 to 2019.

We are Tsinghua-M 2024 iGEMers! As a brand-new iGEM team started this year, Tsinghua-M 2024 is composed of 15 undergraduate from Tanwei college, 1 undergraduate from acdeacademy of arts & design, 1 high school student, two PhD advisors and two PIs from department of chemical engineering, Tsinghua university. We are enthusiastic about synthetic biology and iGEM competition. This year, we are dedicated to build a RNA sensor in yeast based on ADAR. Looking forward to see all other iGEMers in the Jamboree!
