Team JIASHU-China 2024
We are a team of 18 high school students, coming together for the first time to collectively pursue a shared, thrilling goal. Our participation in the iGEM competition marks the beginning of an extraordinary journey, destined to create cherished memories that will last a lifetime. United by our passion for innovation and science, we aim to not only challenge ourselves but also to contribute meaningful solutions to real-world problems. a mediocre kid from Beijing, China. Currently finishing my 10th-grade journey at Beijing Huijia Private School. This is my first year participating in IGEM, I’m glad to join the big family, IGEM utterly serves as an outlet for me and other students to dive into the world of Biochemistry in practical uses. I’m indulged in delving deep my Biology fundamentals because it provides us with a comprehensive view of life by tackling occults that was never been solved. Besides biology, I also have a bunch of hobbies. I enjoying in play basketball for 5 years as well as other sports like swimming. In reality, I’m a fanatic of producing models from movie figures such as Ironman or Optimus Prime. Lastly, I sincerely wish all candidates could perform well in IGEM 2024 Grand Jamboree, looking forward to see you all at Capitale de la Mode

Personally, studying biology is indeed an enjoyment for me, as I am fond of analyzing problems and appreciating the miracles of life. More importantly, collaborating with my teammates and exchanging perspectives is truly the heart of the iGEM experience. In addition to biology, I am also a track and field athlete, a true bird-watching enthusiast, and a nature lover. I hope I can find friends with similar hobbies in the large iGEM community. Hi! I am Sonia,
a 9th grader at BASIS ShenZhen International School. In this iGEM team. This is my first time participating in iGEM. I got hooked by the blocks of public health and the concept of biological foundations to improve society. Under this condition, I was attracted by the idea of synthetic biology in iGEM which could help me accumulate more experience and acknowledging me more theories on how the concepts of biology could be linked to the daily life of humans. Despite my strong interest in biology, I also have many secret talents like singing, piano, tennis, and many other small hobbies that I touched on. During long breaks, I love traveling to new places and experiencing different cultures in different countries with my friends or my family. I take this as a way to relax from schoolwork and extra courses. Nowadays I’m also learning a little bit of music producing and psychology, these are the two topics that I’m putting most of my effort into other than school work. Lastly, I’m really looking forward to finishing our project with all my teammates and I hope we can all create an unforgettable memory with each other!

I am a rising junior at Storm King School in New York. I am a first time member of the 2024 IGEM team. I joined Igem to gain experience working in teams and in biology. I have never taken any advanced biology classes and as I’m going to take AP biology this year I wanted to use IGEM to prepare myself. My hobbies include ballet, boxing, reading, and philosophy. I look forward to gaining real experience working in a lab and in a professional group. I also hope to make connections with my peers and learn more about biology from them.

Besides, I can play folk guitars, tennis and take photos, and my curiosity always drives me to see the world differently outside school. For instance, Echo, a school magazine, has recognized some of my photos, making me a " school artist." I also shared Chinese New Year culture with the whole community in Chapel, which was impressive. Although it's the first time I take part in iGem, and I am lacking in knowledge of biology, I believe my keenness for knowledge, willing-sharing heart, and conscientiousness will add a unique hue to our team. I can't wait to learn from others too. I look forward to pouring my love of new things and my abilities into our iGem team, since it's an excellent chance to dive further into the fields I am interested in. Looking ahead, I am thrilled to learn and explore new things about biology, as well as meeting new people through this experience. In winter, I spend a lot of time on the ski slopes, and I even organized my own ip ski competition at Genting Ski Resort for this purpose. In the summer, I love to ride my road bike around Beijing. I am a person who loves challenges and new things, and I am looking forward to this competition to open up new horizons for me to learn and grow from!
