Broccoli Master

Cancer is one of the biggest health challenges we face today 🔗

people died of cancer in 2022, according to WHO.

Chemotherapy remains one of the primary treatment methods.

But the current drugs are often painful and not effective when used alone.

The American Cancer Society 🔗 reports that chemotherapy can damage vital cells, leading to side effects like hair loss, anemia, and fatigue.

This has created a pressing demand for safer and more effective cancer treatments.🔗

Here comes Broccoli Master!

Sulforaphane, found in broccoli seeds,is effective against most solid tumors and has minimal side effects. 🔗

However, extracting sulforaphane from broccoli seeds is costly, inefficient, and limited by plant growth, requiring lots of land.

We aim to use synthetic biology to produce sulforaphane with Saccharomyces cerevisiae

Though the process is complex, 🔗

One 35-ton fermentation tank could save 20,000 to 30,000 acres of farmland each year, only 2.5% of cost of plant extraction.

This breakthrough in sulforaphane production preserves land, reduces deforestation, and fights climate change.🔗

Our method aims to enhance human health by producing affordable chemotherapy drugs, offering a sustainable alternative that aligns with global efforts to combat climate change.
