On this page, we showcase the contributions we've made to the iGEM community. During our project, we encountered various challenges and learned valuable lessons by tackling them. To help future iGEM teams benefit from our experience, we created a few resources.
We’ve put together a comprehensive patent guide to assist teams in navigating the often complex process of securing intellectual property rights. This guide provides clear explanations of what intellectual property means, and details the Patent Treaty Cooperation procedure for patenting. It provides guidance regarding patentability, ownership and reasons to patent. We have also included advice on how to approach patenting as an iGEM team.
We’ve created a stakeholder mapping guide. Identifying and engaging with the right stakeholders is crucial for the success of any project. Our guide offers a structured method for mapping out key stakeholders, helping teams build relationships with the individuals and organizations that can provide valuable support and insight. We then use our project to provide an example of how stakeholder mapping is done. The stakeholder guide can also be found on the Entrepreneurship Page.
Finally, we designed a user manual for our product, which explains how to use it effectively. This manual serves not only as a resource for users but also as an example for future iGEM teams. By creating a detailed guide focused on the end user’s needs, teams can ensure that their solutions are easy to adopt and understand. We believe this approach will help future teams develop their own user manuals, offering clear guidance on how to communicate product functionality and improve the overall user experience.
