Introduction

SCU-China strongly believes scientific progress's essence lies in collaboration and exchange. This year, our team actively collaborated, fostering an environment of shared learning, innovation, and scientific rigor. Our efforts encompassed various initiatives to expand our horizons, refine our project, and foster a sense of community within the global iGEM network.


Regional and International Meeting

11th CCiC

Participating in the 11th CCiC (Conference of China iGEMer Community) provided us with a valuable platform to showcase our project and engage in intellectual exchanges with other outstanding iGEM teams. This regional conference allowed us to present our unique ideas and progress and exposed us to the latest developments and trends in synthetic biology. Listening to diverse project presentations gave us new perspectives, ideas, and inspiration, further enriching our project. Additionally, the event fostered connections with like-minded peers, laying the groundwork for potential future collaborations.

We were also honored to receive the Distinguished Project Presentation Award at the 11th CCiC, which served as encouragement and motivated us to continue striving for excellence.

The Asia-Pacific Mini Jamboree

As an important part of regional collaboration, we presented our project at the Asia-Pacific Mini Jamboree. Through mock presentations, we received much feedback from expert judges and peer teams, which were pivotal in refining our project's narrative and visual presentation.

During this exchange, we received valuable feedback and learned various unique ideas and innovative solutions by listening to other iGEM team presentations.

Team Communication and Cooperation

Seven University Joint Sign Language Initiative

In a heartwarming initiative, we collaborated with six other universities (HUBU-WUCHANG-China, SCU-China, SZU-China, TJUSLS-China, CUG-China) to bring synthetic biology to the silent world through sign language. This joint effort allowed us to communicate complex synthetic biology concepts to a broader audience, demonstrating our commitment to inclusivity and public engagement. The initiative fostered a sense of community among the participating teams and highlighted the power of collaboration in scientific communication.

On the other hand, we also have long-term continuous communication with these outstanding teams regarding subject improvement. Learning from each other's unique ideas on the subject has broadened our understanding and thinking.

With BUCT-China

Our collaboration with BUCT-China extended beyond national boundaries. We crafted engaging animations detailing our research and disseminated them via an international open-source platform. This initiative aimed to globalize our project's impact and foster a broader understanding of synthetic biology, underscoring the potential for international academic collaboration.

Exchanges with Multiple iGEM Teams

Understanding the importance of safety considerations in gene editing and crop improvement, we actively engaged in discussions with other iGEM teams focused on plant research. Our collaborations with HUBU-China, SZU-China, and other teams involved discussing safety protocols and collaborating on completing Part Registry and Safety Forms. These discussions improved our project's rigor and transparency, ensuring a solid foundation for subsequent research. We also engaged in in-depth discussions and shared insights on our Human Practices section's overall logic construction, which helped broaden our perspectives.

Following this online meeting, we also shared our teams' experiences through online communication in the WeChat group. We engaged in discussions and mutual assistance on issues such as subject improvement, video production, and methods of submitting various types of information, which significantly increased the work efficiency of all teams.
