I’m Gabriela Jimeno, I’ve been part of the iGEM club for 2 years. I am passionate about health and biological sciences, caretaking, and social change in my community. I’m Panamanian and Colombian, and through iGEM I’ve been inspired to pursue knowledge in order to develop different aspects of the Latin American community. I hope to once work in the health industry, in order to help and benefit people worldwide with basic and necessary health services.

I’m Armaan Melwani, one of the founders and presidents of the iGEM club at MET. Over the past year, I’ve been on an incredible journey where I’ve stepped out of my comfort zone and learned so much and truly enjoyed the process. I’m thrilled to have had the opportunity to help lead such an amazing team and develop a project that we are immensely proud of. I genuinely believe in the potential of synthetic biology as the science of tomorrow and a solution to many of our world’s challenges, and I love the interdisciplinary approach we embraced in developing our project.

Hi! I am Fede. I am from Colombia but I have lived in Panama my whole life. Some of my passions include; music, cars, movies, innovation, design, boxing, gym, and science. I joined iGEM around 2 years ago since I’ve always been passionate about innovation, science, and administration/leadership. iGEM has given me opportunities to showcase this that I could have only dreamt of. I hope that with this project, we can use it to help the world through innovation, science, and devotion.

My name is Samuel Reyes. I was born in Cali Colombia, but I have lived for 8 years in Panama. I am very passionate about all types of sciences; from natural to social. I also love sports, especially soccer and going to the gym. Being part of the iGEM club has been one of the best experiences I have had academically. iGEM has opened many opportunities for me to experience, not only STEM-related but also finance and collaboration. Having tasks such as meeting with sponsors, organizing meetings, and discussing with other boards of different organizations are skills that are not learned at school. I hope that through our project we can help the nation where we live, but also the world as a whole.

My name is Daniela Silvera, I am a panamanian studying at the Metropolitan School of Panama and I am a junior. I joined iGEM to collaborate with my peers in the social media and marketing side in order to grow in this section for my future career. I enjoy listening to music, hanging with my friends, binge-watching shows and movies and watching F1. I also enjoy cooking, ballet and from time to time swimming.

I’m Maria Isabella Perez, one of the leaders of the iGEM club at ISP. I’ve been in the club for 3 years now and I am really happy to have been able to develop this project with such an amazing team.

I’m Karol Jimenez, I am from Mexico living in Panama for over 10 years. I feel lucky to have been a part of iGEM for the last three years, this team has helped me grow as a person and communicator. I have helped lead the club and in logistics, fundraising, and marketing amongst other things. I am proud of the community our team built his year and I know a lot of progress and learning was developed with this project.

I am Veronica Siem from the Metropolitan School of Panama. Being part of the iGEM Club since the beginning, I have found a great interest in learning about synthetic biology and broadening my knowledge. I enjoy designing things and being on social media platforms. I was able to connect my passion with something I was interested in by joining the social media team of the club. With my other club members, I am looking forward to tackling real life problems and helping the world in innovative ways through science.

Hi, I’m Maylene Paz, a 16-year-old living in Panama. I’m part of the iGEM club, and it has changed how I see science and teamwork. In my free time, I enjoy playing soccer, listening to music, and hanging out at the beach with friends. I’m a big dog lover, and their loyalty and energy inspire me. iGEM has been a fantastic opportunity to grow and learn new skills. It’s about working together creatively to solve real problems. This experience has fueled my passion for medicine, and I’m excited to study it. iGEM has boosted my scientific knowledge and helped me develop critical leadership and communication skills.

My name is Valeria Moreno and I’m from the MET. I’ve been part of the iGEM team for about 2 years now. I love sports and the sciences as well as thinking of new ways to help the communities of the country I was born and raised in, by doing things I enjoy. I look forward to making the most of the opportunities I’ve been provided with by being a part of this team.

My name is Andres Marti. I am originally from Venezuela but I have lived in Panama for about 10 years now. I am very passionate about the arts, including visual and music. I most enjoy spending time with my friends, going out, reading, and watching films. In my free time, I enjoy watching all types of series, from classics to romcoms, and also am part of my school's swim team. I was interested in joining iGEM not only because of my friends but also because of my knowledge of biology. I also like to help others, which is what this project is essentially about; developing something for the benefit of all.

I am Sharlyne Wahren from the MET. I am from Belgium and Germany and have lived in Panama for almost a year. I enjoy shopping, playing soccer, and going for walks. I also really like going out and having fun with my friends. I have always been passionate about science and aspire to pursue a career in medicine. I joined IGEM only recently so I have not been able to participate in many events they have hosted, but I had heard about them. In the future, I hope to be able to participate more and help out in the MET IGEM team. I am excited about the opportunities this club has to offer and cannot wait to see what great things we do in the future!

I am Ignacio Martí from the MET. I am Venezuelan but have been at the MET since 1st grade. I am a junior, and I have always liked science and found it interesting. I love playing sports and listening to music. I joined IGEM because it is a club in which I have learned things that have helped me in class, and find out more about what I could study in university. It has helped me learn how to work as a team, and mainly how to delegate tasks.

My name is Luna Shin. I joined iGEM’s biology team just about a year ago in 10th grade, and I have loved cultivating my love for synthetic biology and getting to know my incredible teammates.

My name is Victoria Reyes, I’m a junior and I’ve been part of IGEM’s engineering team since last year. Working with my fellow teammates has potentiated my growth as a student and as a person, which is why I’m so grateful and fortunate to have this group as my team.

My name is Kaelin, I am a junior and this is my first year in iGEM. I am South African, and have lived in Panama for over a year now. I love spending time with my family and being outdoors. I joined the engineering team, as I wanted to expand my knowledge in the field. I have been really lucky to have teammates that are eager to learn more, and collaborate well with everyone.

I’m Yeon Woo, and I have been a member of the iGEM club for 3 years. I have contributed from basic research to circuit work, lab work, and mathematical models, highly contributing to the project.

Hello, My name is Ho June Lee. As a Korean international student in Panama, I learned about iGEM this year and joined to seek inspiration from one of the most fabulous programs in the world. I have learned a lot during this year at iGEM working as a coder, and I was responsible for the creation of this wiki.

My name is Bomi (Mia), and I joined iGEM’s biology team about a year ago. I’m so happy to be a part of this incredible team. I have been able to apply my biology knowledge to this project, which has allowed me to grow even further. Throughout the project, I am grateful to have developed new skills, such as researching and experimenting with synthetic biology.

I’m Constantin and I have been the club’s leader of entrepreneurship and financing. This is my second year in Panama and in the club. This club has allowed me to explore areas such as logistics, fundraising, marketing and more. I am proud of the club’s progress and what our team has developed.

I’m Marek and I have been acting as the leader for the Engineering aspect of the ISP team. This is my first year in Panama and first year as a member of the club. I have really enjoyed leading our first hardware project and hopefully completing a project that can help banana farmers.

Hi, my name is Sofia Eskildsen. I am Panamanian, and this is my first year being in the iGEM team. I’ve enjoyed learning about synthetic biology, and how much actually goes on in order to complete a project. I'm so grateful that it has taught me many valuable lessons and new knowledge about biology.
