Overview

In this study, we employed both a questionnaire model and a bibliometric model to comprehensively evaluate the market potential and research trends of astaxanthin in the skincare industry from different perspectives.

First, through the questionnaire model, we conducted an in-depth investigation into the knowledge, acceptance, and purchase intentions of consumers regarding astaxanthin-based skincare products. Astaxanthin, a powerful natural antioxidant, has been widely used in the food and pharmaceutical industries but remains underrecognized in skincare. Understanding the real needs of the market and addressing concerns (such as efficacy and safety) are crucial for promoting its application in skincare products. By gathering feedback from various groups (including the general public, managers, technicians, and industry professionals), we gained valuable insights into the market’s needs and bottlenecks. This allows us to provide effective marketing strategy recommendations and raise public awareness about astaxanthin-based skincare products.

Meanwhile, the bibliometric model helps us analyze the research dynamics and development trends of astaxanthin in skincare from an academic perspective. Using data from the Web of Science, and visualizing it through tools such as VOSviewer and Excel, we can illustrate the research progress of astaxanthin in skincare, especially in areas such as anti-aging, carotenoids , and cellular protection. This model reveals the growing academic interest in the application of astaxanthin in skincare over recent years, providing a strong data foundation for future market promotion.

In conclusion, the questionnaire model focuses on market demand, helping us understand consumer attitudes toward astaxanthin-based skincare products, while the bibliometric model analyzes its technical feasibility and application potential from a research perspective. By integrating both models, we can comprehensively explore the potential of astaxanthin in the skincare market from the dual dimensions of market acceptance and academic outlook, providing more precise strategy recommendations for technological innovation and market expansion in the industry.

Questionnaire Model

This study explores public knowledge, acceptance, and purchase intentions regarding astaxanthin-based skincare products through a questionnaire survey. Astaxanthin, a potent natural antioxidant widely used in the food and pharmaceutical industries, remains underrecognized in skincare. The study analyzes feedback from the general public, managers, technicians, and industry professionals, uncovering concerns about the efficacy and safety of astaxanthin products. Using cluster analysis, regression analysis, the CRITIC weighting method, and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), the research provides recommendations to enhance market strategies and public awareness, while addressing technical challenges to further promote astaxanthin in the skincare market.

Bibliometric Model

This study employs a bibliometric approach, combining mathematical and statistical tools to systematically analyze the research dynamics and development trends of astaxanthin in the skincare field. The data primarily comes from the Web of Science and has been processed and visualized using VOSviewer and Excel. The results show that since 2015, the application of astaxanthin and antioxidants in skincare has garnered widespread attention, with a consistent increase in the number of publications and citations. Keyword analysis reveals the critical role of astaxanthin as a natural antioxidant in areas such as anti-aging, carotenoids, and cellular protection, highlighting its broad application potential in skincare products. This study provides data-driven support and guidance for further exploration of astaxanthin's applications in skincare.
