Collaboration

As a member of the UK iGEM community, we have engaged with other iGEM teams within the UK and beyond. We aimed to produce content which could be shared among other teams in collaborative projects as well as providing and receiving advice on improving elements of wikis, videos and live presentations.

Sheffield 2024 iGEM Team

The Sheffield 2024 iGEM team organised a UK wide meetup, where many teams, from both the UK and Belgium, came to discuss our projects and participate in activities. All teams gave a presentation about their project and we enjoyed our time asking questions and receiving feedback. We listened to iGEM ambassador and industry representative panel talks, and ran workshops for prospective students during the Sheffield University open day.
Additionally, the Sheffield team gave a presentation on accessibility of wiki websites, and we implemented these tips in the form of:

  • Ensuring there is sufficient contrast between text colour and background colour
  • Limiting the amount of text on images and adding it as legends instead
  • Adding alt text to all images for screen readers

  • Thank you to the Sheffield iGEM team for the amazing opportunity and resources.

    McMaster Canada 2024 iGEM Team

We participated in McMaster’s sticker collaboration by submitting a short subject description and a png of our logo (page 9). They designed a sticker book and create digital copies to share with the public, and included teams from all over the world.
Thank you to McMaster for the wonderful opportunity.

    Warwick 2024 iGEM Team

The University of Warwick produced a series called iGEM 101 where they compiled video introductions to different lab techniques. Within our project, we had performed a large number of both E. coli and S. cerevisiae inoculations, therefore we contributed with a short video on making liquid inoculations from colonies.
Thank you to the Warwick team for organising this.
