I am Tracy Zhu from Wuxi Dipont School of Arts and Science, and I am favored in sports like volleyball, basketball, and figure skating, and some academic research such as laboratory investigations and adventures outside the classroom. Also, being a strongly extroverted person, social and communication are an important part of my life, and I developed interests in public speaking and debating, which helped me more on enhancing my academic career. Even more, some artistic background is also needed for self-spiritual support since I found the piano a fascinating tool for adjusting emotions and stress. In the future, my focused career would probably be biochemistry or organic chemistry, including some law for postgraduates, since I found both of them interesting and those careers have large spaces of development.

Hello, my name is Candice. I am 13 years old and I am from Wuxi, China. I am currently in grade eight. I really enjoy a variety of subjects and hobbies. Biology is one of my favorite subjects - I find the study of living organisms fascinating. I also love the performing arts, such as musical theatre, drama, and music. Singing is one of my passions. In addition to the arts, I really enjoy more academic subjects as well, like mathematics. I find the logical and problem-solving aspects of math to be very rewarding. Food is another one of my interests. I enjoy trying new dishes and flavors. Being an only child, I have a close relationship with my family and we often bond over meals together. Hello everyone, my name is Wendy, and I am in 10th grade. I am 16 years old this year. I am friendly and kind, and I study diligently. In class, I will listen attentively, strive to understand, and apply knowledge. Outside of class, I will participate in some activities to enrich my experience and hobbies. At the same time, I also pay attention to self-reflection and constantly adjust my learning methods and attitudes. Joining iGEM is also to provide an additional experience in biology and mathematics, and to further deepen my understanding of the course.

My name is Sinclair from grade 10A, I’m 16 years old, I like drama and most of the sciences. My friends usually describe me as someone who got low IQ because I sometimes forgot the reality and dive into my mind into everything,and what’s more,I tend to solve problems in my own way(usually either unique or confusing), which might be a reason why some of people think I got a down-symdrome. Probably the only hobby I got is play games, usually turn-based games like Pokemon and limbus company. The only motivation I’m here is because I think it’s fun(So far, I have always done things based on my interests ).

I am Rebecca Yu from grade nine. My favorite subject is geography, because I love to experience the environment and human culture that is different from my normal life. Also I’d like to went to see persons that had a diverse background with ourselves, such as to interview farmers and experts, because they will be able to give suggestion to a question in different prospective due to their different life experience. This kind of research let me know the world in wider sight, this is a reason of why I like igem. In addition, I like drama, baseball, literature and drawing in the same reason.

Hi, I’m Ruyi Zhang from Wuxi Dipont School of Arts and Science. Biology is one of my favorite subjects, I find specific interest in biochemistry and molecular biology as the micro world is appealing and fascinating and these microorganisms can help to solve a lot of problems, some can even save life, and that’s why I’m here.I’m a great fan of musical theatre and I’m obsessed with this art composition. Usually, I’m an introverted person, but if you see me in any place or position in the theatre, you will definitely be questioning about this. That’s because I view theatre as a super safe place where I can express my emotions to the world and won’t be worried if that’s embarrassed or not, cause I’m in a character. Additionally, as a script writer, I enjoy the feeling of being inspired by experiences, putting them into stories and lyrics and share to the public is stunning.

Hello, there. Here is Owen, a normal but ambitious guy who participates in this awesome program. Honestly, I did feel unconfident because obviously there are abundant people who know more in biology than I do. Previously I couldn’t attend half of the pre-courses due to my INDIVIDUAL EXCUSES, thus I was afraid our progress would lag behind our expectations. Well, and whatever, my concerns finally burned into ashes when we started our first experiment. I tried to dig out the reason why we should have done this instead of that, and why this process leads to that ending. You should have done lots of essay reading if you are trying to stand theory beneath the procedure, hence that process is miserable, I did experience that while I was dumbly working on my debate long time ago. Well, lastly, I would say my confidence level was lifted dramatically to a higher degree, and next time I will declare to myself that I should always be the ace in the hole.

I am an outgoing person and always willing to make friends. Studying hard, I listen carefully to the contents in class. By the way, I am really interested in learning economics. Outside of class, I am the captain of both volleyball and basketball team and I start my own band inside of our school.

Hello everyone, I am Fisher Shunji YU, the iGEM PI at Wuxi Dipont School of Arts and Science (DSAS), China. This is our first iGEM project, and therefore, we are very honoured to participate in this glamorous annual event. I am also these participants’ IGCSE/A-level biology teacher. When they first had the idea of doing a project about maise, I was greatly touched by their passion and international-mindedness about global food issues. As one of the main staple foods, maise is severely affected by the fungi-caused sheath blight. In order to reduce the concentration of remaining agricultural chemicals and decrease the chemical resistance among Rhizoctonia Solani, students would like to use the biodegradable dsRNA to specifically inhibit the growth of Rhizoctonia Solani. For those G10/11 students, we had a weekly training session to improve and prepare their experimental skills in the first semester. We usually left school at 10 pm at that time. Since the second semester, they have officially started and solved one-by-one problems. I am so proud to witness each one’s growth and blooming.
