Human practise

scut-china-b

Communication between individuals is crucial for teamwork and scientific research. Our group places a high emphasis on interpersonal communication and cooperation. Human practice is a vital aspect of scientific research and has been the foundation of our nation's success since ancient times. Thus, in completing this project, our team greatly values every opportunity for external communication and collaboration. This year, we first participated in a Southern China Exchange Conference to discuss our projects with peers from the same region, aiming to better complete our experiments and find more effective solutions. Subsequently, we held another exchange with students from Hubei who are also involved in a genetic engineering competition, hoping to learn from each other's projects. In addition, we have held a number of seminars in public places such as schools and hospitals to actively inform the public about our project and enhance public understanding of cancer and its targeted therapies.

Southern China Exchange Conference

Most of the IGEM teams from South China participated in the South China Exchange. We also shared our experience with the teams who have related projects with us, and discussed possible solutions to their difficulties, it is very enlightening for our follow-up experiments. The exchange session also included a part of the exhibition. Everyone showed their experimental results and the results of their posters, web pages, promotional videos, etc. . In the course of visiting the booths of different teams, not only did we have clearer goals for our team's follow-up, but we also learned a lot about subjects we didn't know much about before.

Hubei IGEM meeting

Our meeting was divided into three parts: project introduction and questions, current experimental progress and problems encountered, project commercialization results sharing. With in-depth exchange of the goals and results of our respective project groups, both of us have gained a lot. Later, we had a free discussion about cancer and shared our views on current cancer treatment methods and the application prospect of synthetic biology. Finally, we took some friends from Hubei province to visit our laboratory and took a group photo.

In the same field of cancer, we have the same goal but different design ideas. In the process of sharing, we compare and learn from each other and see more innovative possibilities. We also focused on the problems encountered in many specific experiments. Our team used mouse-derived granule sequences for design, while the other team used human-derived sequences. This is where our team will continue to improve, so we had in-depth discussions. We have learned that the Sleeping Beauty transposon system they designed significantly reduces the risk of immune response and genomic insertion mutagenesis compared with traditional viral vectors, and enhances the safety of the therapy for a wide range of applications, this may be acceptable in our future experiments.

Lectures at hospitals and schools

We will be the content of the project after the popularization, in schools, hospitals and other public places to carry out talks and exchanges. Through popular science lectures, people can learn more about health, disease prevention, nutritional diet, mental health and other aspects of knowledge, so as to enhance self-health awareness. Lectures in hospitals can also help patients better understand the treatment plan, improve treatment results. In the course of the lecture, we invited doctors to communicate medical knowledge with the public intuitively and answer questions, so as to enhance the trust between doctors and patients. The establishment of this trust helps to improve the doctor-patient relationship and the satisfaction degree of medical service. Through this lecture, patients can get the latest and most accurate medical information, understand the treatment of emerging cancer, reduce the information caused by misunderstanding and panic. In the lectures, we encourage you to develop good living habits, so as to make you more deeply aware of their responsibility in the maintenance of personal and social health, it is believed that this sense of responsibility can motivate people to participate more actively in health promotion activities and jointly create a healthier social environment.
