This year, RDFZ-CHINA focused on developing an advanced alkane-responsive bioremediation system to address oil pollution, emphasizing both microbial degradation and plant cooperation. We utilized engineered bacteria such as E. coli and Bacillus subtilis to degrade petroleum hydrocarbons through enzymes like AlkM, while also enhancing plant growth using IAA production pathways. Furthermore, we integrated a suicide system to ensure biosafety. Our team contributed 9 new parts, including the innovative Alkane Sensor and Alkane-responsive suicide system, providing vital tools for environmental restoration efforts.
