In the process of exploration, pioneers may face various difficulties such as lost contact and lack of food. However, current spacesuits cannot provide long-term survival guarantees for astronauts.
To address this issue, we designed Luminaid - a closed-loop life support system that incorporates Synechococcus-Vibrio natriegens coexistence system integrated into astronaut suits.
The system provides energy to the astronauts and emits a blue fluorescent light to indicate the location of lost crew members.
Considering the similarities between certain environments in space and on Earth, we believe that Luminaid can also have a social value on Earth.
For example, in the marine environment, where luminaid can be fitted to lifejackets, providing a new way of thinking about rescue at sea.
In the future, we hope that our luminaid can be used in more scenarios on Earth and even in space.
