1. iGEM and Nanjing-China

The Nanjing-China team from Nanjing University has been participating in the iGEM event for many years and has a glorious history. This year, 18 undergraduates from the School of Life Sciences, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, School of Artificial Intelligence, School of Business, School of Medicine, School of Electronic Science and Engineering, Kuang Yaming College and Department of Computer Science and Technology form the 2024 Nanjing-China team. We will work together to explore the establishment of a space-based closed-loop agricultural system based on engineered microorganisms, bringing innovative ideas and designs with Chinese characteristics to the global stage!

Our team is divided into three main departments: The Wet Lab Group in charge of biological engineering design and engineering implementation,the Dry Lab Group responsible for mathematical modeling, project website production, and the HP Group responsible for organization, promotion, practice. Hello everyone, I'm a third-year student majoring in AI. I have a passion for football and table tennis. At the same time, I'm also fond of anime and K-POP culture. As someone who is too shy in social situations, I usually only dare to stay in the laboratory and do experiments. I am very happy to participate in this year's iGEM competition and hope to find my future direction by creating some amazing things during the competition.

Nanjing University has cultivated a strong interest in scientific research in me. In my free time, I have participated in many scientific research practice activities in the lab, learning basic experimental skills such as Western Blot and molecular cloning. Moreover, many experimental courses arranged by the School of Life Sciences have also improved my scientific research abilities. A science geek obsessed with test tubes and code, you might find me in a corner of a bookstore, at a concert, or on the badminton court when I'm not conducting experiments or writing code.

Learning syntethetic biology has fascinated me because it combines Biology and Engineering into a single topic. It amazes me how we can modify DNA to solve real world problems such as fighting diseases or producing biofuel.
