iGEM IISc organised a paper presentation competition in collaboration with Naturalists, the UG Biology Club, on 30 June 2024. First year undergraduates presented papers covering a range of topics including protein and DNA folding, ant ecology, systems biology and chemical biology.
The session was attended by first and second year undergraduates and was a learning experience for everyone, with thought provoking discussion sessions following each presentation. The Naturalists convenors constituted the judging panel for the event, and gave the participants feedback on their presentations and ways in which they could improve.
The event was a great way for students to learn how to present a topic to an audience which may not have a background in the field, which is an essential skill in research and academia.
