Primary PI
Dr. Ye Qiu is an associate professor in the College of Biology, Hunan University. He is the vice dean of the Department of Biomedical Engineering and the secretary of Provincial Key Laboratory of Medical Virology of Hunan. His research is focused on the variation and pathogenicity of human viruses, including enterovirus, coronavirus and poxvirus. His work has been published in Journal of Medical Virology, PLOS Pathogens, Briefings in Bioinformatics, etc.

Dr. Haijun Tu is currently Professor of Genetics, Vice Dean of College of Biology, Hunan University, Executive Director of National Demonstration International Science and Technology Cooperation Base for Biomedicine. He completed his postdoc training in the Bessereau laboratory of Génétique et Neurobiologie at University Claude Bernard Lyon1, CGphiMC UMR CNRS 5534, Lyon from July, 2013 to June, 2015 and in IBENS, INSERM U1024, Ecole Normale Supérieure, Paris, France from January, 2011 to June, 2013. He received the award of Les Grandes Avancees Francaises en Biologie, Pix AXA – Academie des sciences in 2015. His research interests are focusing on the cellular and genetic mechanisms of neuro-immune interaction. He published his research papers in the impact journals such as Nature, Immunity, Neuron, PNAS.
Secondary PI
Dr. Jin Zhenming, a professor at the College of Biology, Hunan University, is recognized as an Elsevier "Highly Cited Researcher" in China. His research primarily focuses on the synthesis and modification of significant functional proteins, structural analysis, and the development of novel biopharmaceuticals. His research findings have been published in journals such as Nature, Science, Nature Structural & Molecular Biology, and PNAS, accumulating over 6,500 citations. Several of his papers have been recognized as ESI Highly Cited Papers and F1000 recommended papers, Several of his works have been distinguished as ESI Highly Cited Papers and F1000 recommended papers, with inclusion among the "China’s Top 10 Life Scientific Advances in 2020".
Secondary PI
Dr. Huairong Pan is a professor in the College of Biology, Hunan University. His research is focused on nitrogen fixing symbiosis between legumes and rhizboia. Prof. Pan has made significant contributions in understanding the cellular machineries controlling the interaction between host plant cells and their symbionts. His works were published in Nature Plants, Nature Communications, etc. Prof. Pan has supported a large number of undergraduate students to conduct independent research in his laboratory.

Dr. Liyang Shi is an associate professor in the College of Biology at Hunan University. His research interests lie in biomaterial-mediated regeneration medicine. His works were published in ACS Central Science, ACS Materials Letters, Advanced Functional Materials, etc. His lab focuses on developing hydrogel biomaterials for treatments in the fields of spinal cord injury and diabetic wound.

Gu Xuyang is a program advisor in the College of Biology, Hunan University. He has won the Outstanding Innovation and Entrepreneurship Mentor of Hunan University’s College Students’ Innovation Contest for three consecutive years. He is mainly responsible for guiding students in innovation and entrepreneurship, dream-building practice. The team “Created for You” he guided won the gold medal in Hunan Province and the bronze medal in the whole country of the 9th China International “Internet+” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. He leads students in innovation and entrepreneurship. The team "Colorful Animation City" under his charge and guidance won the national gold medal in the 7th "Internet+" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, while "Seven-Colored Light to Paint Dreams" was honored as the Best Volunteer Service Project among the "Four 100" nationwide in 2021, and also won the gold medal in the 5th China Volunteer Service Project Contest in 2020 and the national gold medal in the 2020 Chuangqingchun Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition.
