Laboratory Open Day
In May, we actively participated in the "Laboratory Open Day" event organized by the Chinese Society for Cell Biology in 2024 to enhance members' awareness of laboratory safety and operational standards.
In May 2024, our team actively participated in the "Laboratory Open Day" organized by the Chinese Society for Cell Biology with the aim of enhancing team members' awareness of laboratory safety and adherence to experimental protocols. To ensure strict compliance with biological safety standards, we conducted comprehensive laboratory safety training sessions on the evenings of May 8th and 10th for all students entering our lab. On May 18th, the Laboratory Open Day commenced with a popular science lecture held in a state-of-the-art multimedia classroom. Representing their respective laboratories, iGEM competition teams from Hubei University, Tianjin University, and China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) humorously and effectively introduced relevant biological knowledge to visitors. Subsequently, these iGEM teams guided visitors in an orderly manner into Hubei University's Life Science College laboratory where they provided detailed explanations about laboratory instruments, usage methods, and precautions.
Through the implementation of laboratory safety training in this activity, we were able to develop a profound understanding of the rigor and significance of laboratory work. The meticulous organization by the HUBU-WUCHANG-CHINA team ensured that each student fully comprehended and valued laboratory safety standards, thereby establishing a solid foundation for subsequent experimental research. During our visit to the laboratory, science educators provided comprehensive explanations on the usage and precautions of laboratory instruments, enhancing our intuitive understanding of lab work. Throughout this process, we not only acquired practical experimental skills but also gained insights into the unwavering pursuit and rigorous attitude exhibited by scientific researchers(Figure 1).
