Overview

Standard Operating Procedure ensures consistency, quality, and efficiency of the outcome of laboratory work. As a team, the IGEM UAlberta 2024 Wet Lab Team has created written instructions that outline the steps necessary for specific experimental designs that are performed throughout the project. The significant outlines of SOPs acknowledge students with diverse backgrounds and laboratory skills and enable them to achieve operational excellence by enhancing productivity, minimizing errors, and reinforcing proper lab safety guidance.

Within each Standard Operating Procedure, eight sections are covered, providing information on purpose, abbreviations, hazard identification, personal protection equipment required (PPE), training required, emergency procedures, and operation guidance along with reagents and materials necessary.
