We interviewed Dr. Wang Wen-Ho, an expert in wound care and plastic surgery, in order to gain insights into how our Super-Smart Bandage could be applied in clinical settings and improve patient care.

Dr. Wang is a renowned plastic surgeon in Taiwan with over 20 years of experience, specializing in skin restoration and non-invasive procedures. His expertise made him the ideal candidate to evaluate our product.

Suggested Improvements

He suggested starting with simpler wound types for quicker implementation and emphasized improving absorbency, waterproofing, and ensuring a secure fit for patient comfort and effectiveness.

Interview Process

We presented and explained the feature of Super-Smart Bandage, which detects the bacterial levels in wounds. Dr. Wang asked insightful questions and provided valuable feedback on its clinical potential.

Based on his feedback, we will enhance the bandage’s absorbency, waterproofing, and fit, initially focusing on simpler wounds to refine the product before tackling more complex cases.

Enhanced Personas: Medical Band-Aid Users​

After six months of research with twenty diverse groups, we conducted a needs analysis to identify wound care challenges. Participants shared their injury experiences from daily life, work, and sports, revealing specific expectations for wound care products.

We developed four key personas: an emergency room nurse, an active athlete, a home health aide, and a university student. Each represents common injury scenarios across different lifestyles and professions, showcasing how our smart bandage meets their unique needs with efficient, tailored solutions.

These personas not only guide product development but also ensure our smart bandage addresses diverse user demands for high-quality wound care.

  • Injury Situation: Cut by a sharp object while handling an emergency in the ER
  • Needs: A wound care solution that continuously releases antibiotics without affecting work
  • Concerns: Being unable to change dressings frequently, feeling worried about wound infection during intense work.

  • Needs: A drug-releasing patch that doesn’t affect daily work
  • Concerns: Regular band-aids require manual medication application and have short-lasting effects, affecting work efficiency and quality of life

  • Needs: A product that remains stable during exercise, provides continuous treatment, and doesn’t affect movement
  • Concerns: Traditional sports band-aids easily come off and cannot provide long-lasting medication release
University Student

  • Injury Situation: Chemical burn on the hand during a lab project
  • Needs: A dressing that continuously releases medication is waterproof and allows easy observation of wound recovery
  • Concerns: Frequent dressing changes or constant wound monitoring disrupts study and experiment progress. Also, worries about smooth wound healing.

In conclusion, these personas highlight diverse wound care needs—from emergency nurses to athletes and students. Our smart bandage addresses key concerns like infection prevention, real-time monitoring, and faster healing, enhancing users’ quality of life. These insights drive our ongoing product innovation, ensuring practical, user-focused medical solutions.

Survey Data Insights: Enhancing Wound Care through Smart Technology

This data comes from a survey of over 1000 respondents collected during our public and campus outreach. It reflects the real preferences and concerns of potential users regarding wound care products, gathered through direct interactions.Each response represents genuine interest in healthcare innovations, and the feedback has been crucial in shaping our smart bandage technology. Our product not only monitors bacterial levels in real-time but also administers medication to efficiently prevent infections. We are committed to data-driven development and creating advanced healthcare products that meet the needs of patients, building trust in our brand.

Chart 1 – Impact of Frequent Wound Dressing Changes on Life: 

The pie chart shows that 58.7% of respondents feel frequent wound dressing changes have had some effect on their lives, while 15.1% report a great influence. Our smart bandage, by minimizing the need for frequent changes through automated medication release based on bacterial monitoring, directly addresses this concern, improving the quality of life for patients.

This bar chart reveals the critical factors influencing the selection of wound care products, with monitoring infection risk ranking highest. This aligns directly with the functionality of our smart bandage, which offers real-time bacterial monitoring. Secondary factors include product price, comfort during use, and the convenience of reducing replacement frequency—both areas where our product aims to excel through targeted medication delivery and fewer dressing changes.

With 83.8% of respondents considering infection a major concern in wound care, our smart bandage is designed to meet this critical need by continuously monitoring bacterial concentration in the wound. This allows for precise medication delivery, preventing infections before they become severe.

This pie chart demonstrates that 54% of respondents are willing to pay more for a smart bandage, with 17.6% being very willing. Our product, which offers advanced bacterial detection and automatic medication release, directly appeals to this demand for innovative solutions that enhance wound care efficiency.

Conclusion: Meeting Market Demand with Innovative Wound Care Solutions

Our survey of over 1,000 individuals revealed a strong demand for smart bandage solutions that address infection prevention and real-time monitoring. A significant majority (83.8%) expressed concern about infection risk, highlighting the need for our product, which monitors bacterial levels and administers medication with precision. More than half of the respondents indicated a willingness to pay for this advanced technology, demonstrating a robust market demand. This data-driven approach reinforces our commitment to providing innovative healthcare solutions that improve patient outcomes and establish our Super-Smart Bandage as a leader in next-generation wound care technology.
