Brevibacillus borstelensis AK1, a thermophilic bacterium isolated from a hot spring in Saudi Arabia was selected for its potential to produce antimicrobial peptides. Bioinformatics analysis of its whole-genome sequencing identified several genes encoding potential antimicrobial peptides (AMPs). Six of these genes were chosen for testing based on their hit scores. All parts listed below was engineered by team KFUPM-Saudi-Arabia using components from the distribution kits plus the antimicrobial peptide genes found in our bacteria.
