As a widely popular natural fruit in China,
the cultivation and processing
techniques of longan are relatively mature.
If astaxanthin can be extracted from longan,
It will open up a new way to extract astaxanthin.
Therefore,
we considered introducingthe CrBKT gene
from Chlamydomonas reinhardtii and the HpBHY gene
from Haematococcus pluvialis into longan (Dimocarpus longan),
in an attempt to expand the sources of astaxanthin and
thereby provide more options for the cosmetics industry.
